“one of the World’s top ten uniquely talented traditional jazz bands”.... (USA)

The Roy Potts Five and a Penny Jazz Band

For over 40 years the group has played a broad spectrum of jazz music with style and humour. Its exceptional entertaining qualities have resulted in invitations to appear at some of the very best clubs, festivals, theatres, over Great Britain and the World including New Orleans, Toronto, Sacramento, Munich, London, etc. usually ending with standing ovations.

This is not for the specialist. Be prepared for a fun trip through a variety of music from the twentieth century. The Roy Potts' Five and a Penny Band has played in the company of the very tops of the jazz and entertainment fraternity, at some of the most prestigious venues and jazz events in the World.

If you appreciate a unique sound, inspired by Hot Five to Frank Zappa, via the classic route of Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller, Gershwin to Parker; this is the band for you. Head arrangements with room for 'real' creativity; all things are possible. Very audience orientated. You'll love 'em!

Original members are Roy Potts-leader/trumpet/vocals: Dave Alexander-guitar/banjo: Time has made it necessary to incorporate the fine musical talents of Tim Kitchener-bass: Geoff Parker-reeds: Pete Fryer-trombone: 'Sir' Alan Buckley-drums. Suitable for everyone!

Tim Kitchener passed away on 20th March 2013
