We really do hope that you
will be able to find many Bands and Musicians that are to your
liking in our 2024 roll call in order that we can guarantee the
continued support of the Club from those of you who live within
striking distance of our Venue. Of course without your footfall
in reasonable numbers over our threshold there would no point
whatsoever in us giving Bands the opportunity to ‘strut their
stuff’ on the Club’s Podium.
The 2024 Season is opened by
the increasingly in demand popular Jake Leg Jug Band in January
followed the following month by the gifted John Hallam with his
youngish ensemble. Just to ring the changes slightly we have two
outstanding Concerts in March. On the afternoon of Sunday the
3rd. The Freetime Old Dixie Jassband will be paying us a much
anticipated visit from Enkhuizen in Holland. Closely following
this on Saturday the 9th the crowd pleasing Frog and Henry
‘International Clan’ led by Ewan Bleach, the New Orleans based
world class reeds player, are with us. April sees a welcome back
for the more ‘traditional’ Alligator Gumbo Band from Leeds
following their successful first visit in 2023. Tom Langham’s
Hot Fingers plus that famed Cotswold Nightingale, Miss Emily
Campbell will be on stage in May to demonstrate their engaging
and vast musical talents once more. In June Matt Palmer’s
acclaimed Eagle Jazz Band is our chosen fare for you – whilst in
July, in a joint promotion with your Village Hall’ to try and
raise a few funds for their coffers, we will be welcoming Warren
James with his widely travelled ‘Stage Show,’ ‘The Lonnie
Donegan Story.’ This full package entertainingly gives you the
story of this ‘British Icon’ in words as well as music and how
he began his notable career on banjo and guitar amongst the
ranks of the early Chris Barber Band.
After a bit of a break in
August your Autumn Sessions bursts into life with a much
requested September return visit for Sarah Spencer’s widely
talked about Transatlantic Band and then Nick Ward’s star
studded Combo presenting New Orleans music from the 20’s and
30’s make use of our facilities in October. November will see
the ‘Night Owls’ flying in again to secure a prominent perch
from which to demonstrate their well-remembered, following their
appearance earlier this year, amazing talents applied to the
accurate recreation of a variety of early music from the
Crescent City and further afield.
You will be pleased to hear
that the ‘Jazzaholics’ with Jools in charge of the baton return
again to deliver what is guaranteed to be hugely enjoyable
‘Christmas Special’.
Many, many grateful thanks for
your much appreciated loyal and faithful support this year and
we trust that we will be able to count on this phenomenon in the
future. Please try and pay your Club a visit if it is at all
possible for what, as you can see for your good selves, should
be a memorable year of ‘Quality Jazz’ in what we trust is one of
your Favourite Jazz Clubs !
