Bob Jones RIP

It is with great sadness I wish to report the death of Bob Jones, drummer & founder member of The Salt City Jazzmen based around Nantwich. He was a driving drummer and singer, which gave the band great energy. He was with the band from 1971 until ill health forced him to retire in 2018. He still came to listen to the band and sing occasionally. He was for many years the organiser of all the band's gigs. He will be sorely missed.

So sorry to hear about Bob Jones. I recall him so well from when I first moved into Shropshire and he welcomed me into enjoying gigs with the very fine Salt City band. Also in the band in those happy days were fine cornet player, Dick Wharton, trombone/leader Alan Newton, and reeds Dave Parsonage. Nantwich was the centre of their universe. Those were the halcyon days.
