I have been informed that, sadly, Tony Ormesher banjo/guitarist died last Saturday. He was a rare talent and although he hasn't played for some years now, he will be missed. We travelled to gigs together for almost 30years.. -

Such sad news.  Tony’s playing was just exceptional, on banjo he could swing the band on his own, and his guitar playing was so tasteful.  I had so many great nights with him, it was always a thrill. He was a dream to play (and have the odd half) with.

Condolences to Tony’s family.

Sad news indeed, a fine musician and funny with it. He was in The OPJB from 1991 and stayed for 4 years. There’s some excellent guitar work on “Montmartre”, which we recorded during his time with us: It’s on our CD “Something For The Weekend”. My sympathy to Colette, Anthony and family.

I was sorry to learn of Tony Ormesher’s death: condolences to his family. We played together occasionally over a number of years, either in pick-up bands or with one or the other of us depping. He was a fine guitar and banjo player, very competent but never flashy. He had some wonderful stories, particularly his tale of driving an American tourist from Lime Street station to the Adelphi Hotel. On arrival, after a journey of two or three minutes, the American stated that it couldn’t be right as his last similar taxi journey had taken forty-five minutes and involved the passage through two tunnels. Happy days.

Harmoniously,
John Muskett

My computer has just been revived after a crash and I am upset to read of the death of Tony Ormisher. A long time member of our beloved Teddy Bears.  Many years of very happy memories at Maghull and elsewhere. A gifted musician and a naturally funny man whenever he performed, especially when we could persuade him to "sing" His banjo break on 'Leaning on the Lampost' was delightful. Jokes were played with him in good humour like the board for carrying four pints and when the boys secreted a girls bra in his guitar case.  Great fun and we will miss his personality, sadly.  I would have liked to have been at his funeral locally with all of my dear friends in the Teds and others but I learned too late. Good wishes and condolences to Collett and Anthony -
