The band was born out of Mike Lovell's Six in A Bar, changing its name when Mike moved down to Cornwall It may be possible that the band will return to the North Euston on occasions but Colin Turner wrote to me to say Despite a promising start to the North Euston Orpheans' last Wednesday in the month sessions at the North Euston Hotel, the management of the hotel have advised us that it is impractical for them to continue with the arrangement. It would seem that our use of the Vantini Room last month prevented the hotel from hiring it out for a funeral wake. Whilst in the past when the Vantini Room was in use for a private booking the band would be relocated to the Family Bar, it would now appear that this is no longer possible. It was suggested that we could be accommodated in January but we have reluctantly come to the conclusion that the uncertain nature of this arrangement renders it equally impractical for us to continue with the residency. May I take this opportunity to thank our loyal followers for their enthusiastic support over the years. Thanks also to the Hotel for being such good hosts to jazz for such a long time.
