John Minnion RIP September 2023

05/09/23 - Just heard John Minnion has died a marvellous bloke who did so much to promote traditional jazz.

21/09/23 - John Minnion was the man who created the Keswick Jazz Festival and directed it so successfully for 23 years. It was through a meeting with John Minnion, at the Keswick Jazz Festival that Val Hopkins  became involved almost purely by chance, when she requested that there should be more jazz taking place in the Lake District throughout the year. John said that it wasn't for him but why didn't she try promoting something as she knew about and lived in the area. Her Jazz By The Lake weekends at the Salutation Hotel in Ambleside and in Grasmere, were legendary
