Trombonist, Dave Donohoe, leads one of the best New Orleans style bands in the country

Listed in 'The International Who's Who in Popular Music,' and in John Chiltern's 'Who's Who in British Jazz', Dave Donohoe has been playing ‘New Orleans style’ since 1962. Hand-picked by Woody Allen for the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Dave has toured the USA and Europe in various guises, appears in Europe’s Jazz Festivals and can often be seen with New Orleans’ finest. The band have played on the same bill as legends such as Dr John, Joe Cocker and Van Morrison.

Dave believes that New Orleans music is a style rather than a repertoire, and therefore the band doesn't restrict itself to popular jazz standards. He will draw on any song that lends itself to a good melody and the right swing and rhythmic approach.

His band consists of handpicked musicians which includes such well known names as Teddy Fullick (trumpet), Frank Brooker (reeds),  Jim Swinnerton (bass), Tom Kincaid (piano), Mal Horne (banjo) and Bill Evans (drums). For many years Dave lived on  the Lancashire/Yorkshire border playing regularly at the Band Club in Delph and when playing in the North West he still draws on some of the musicians that played with him there including John Brunton (reeds) and Dave Podgson (trumpet).
