Barry Aldous 70th Birthday Party

Thanks to an invite from Barry & Edna Aldous, Barbara and I attended a birthday party to celebrate Barry's 70th Birthday at his own jazz venue - The Grant's Arms in Ramsbottom. If ever there was a collection of the North West's finest musicians, this was it, - Barry Aldous, Doug Whaley, John Gordon, Derek Brown, Dave Moore, Don Long, Maurice Gavan, Frank Fonseca, Mike Burns, John Hallam and Mike Pearson.  Apologies if I've missed anyone.

Not only did we have a lovely buffet and bottles of wine courtesy of Barry & Edna, but we had some of the best jazz heard in these parts for some time. With all these musicians taking it in turns to come up for a jam session it had to be a night to remember. I'm not sure they want to remember a request for "New York, New York", but it was all great fun.

Barry was presented, by his son, with a framed collage of photographs taken over the years, of various jazz bands and musicians that he had played with.
