Whatever Happened To

ALAN RADCLIFFE

Hi Fred,

just read several of your articles on Ed Fish and The Saints Jazzband. I used to go to The Saint's rehearsals at a pub in Ashton-u-Lyne in the late 50s. John Mills, Fred Fydler, Mick McMama, Ed Fish and my favourite Alan Radcliffe were in the band at that time. I was also at the Louis concert at Belle Vue in '56 and have still got the original programme and Louis' autograph which Alan got for me. Unfortunately I got too interested in what was modern jazz in the sixties and lost touch with the band. However I did contact Alan again and he came to my 50th birthday do (Dave Donohoe band played) in 1987. I still feel that he was one of the best clarinetists in the country and was without a doubt the main driving force behind the band and I would dearly like to know the whereabouts of Alan if anyone can help.

Thanking you in anticipation. Philip Buckley
