Seventh visit to Roa Island, this young 5 piece band based in Leyland
have, pleasingly adopted the raunchy and soulful New Orleans R+B style
and doing it very professionally. The band has played at Ronnie Scott's.
Justin and Debbie have played in New Orleans. Justin, their brilliant
pianist draws his inspiration from Professor Longhair, Dr John, Fats
Domino and others. Debbie Jones, their vocalist, is a star in her own
right and has the right sort of delivery for all sorts of heart warming
stuff including blues, gospel and some rock and roll. The band is
completed by drums, double bass and sax or lead guitar. Debbie also
plays the guitar.
Long time visitors to Roa Island, the 7 piece Algiers capture the
atmosphere, spirit and sounds of the New Orleans dance bands and are
acclaimed in this country and Europe. Brian plays in New Orleans
occasionally. This band can boogie. Now includes some early rock and
roll in their own style.
